Targeting articulation or phonological processes with books is not new. Over the course of this blog series, I am going to give you the blueprints for how to make your own literacy and articulation kits. The third book in the series is my favorite: Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up Her Wash. If you are just landing on this post you may want to head here and read about Lit/Artic kits and what they are.

Mrs. McNosh Hangs up Her Wash By Sarah Weeks.

Mrs. McNoash book

With this story we can target sh ( espically final sh), s- blends, fianl s, rhyme identificaiton, rhyme generation and silliness.

I ordered a digital download from a Teachers Pay Teachers Shop. You can follow the link to that shop here. After cutting out all the pictures and laminating them they have been easy to use for years.

You will also need some yarn and clothespins to create a clothesline. I am sure you have some sort of yarn or string lying around that you could use for a clothesline. This is the best part in my opinion. It is a great activity for our kids that need to get up and move or who can’t sit still.

I string the clothesline across my room. If you are unable to do that you could fasten magnets to the back of the pictures and make a faux clothesline on a whiteboard.

I have the kids attach all the elements of Mrs. McNosh’s wash bin to the line as we read the story. This could also be a great activity for a small group as well.

This is a really fun and engaging activity. I have never had a kiddo turn away with a frown after this one!
