Targeting articulation or phonological processes with books is not new. Over the course of this blog series, I am going to give you the blueprints for how to make your own literacy and articulation kits. The second book in the series is so adorable: Move Over Rover. If you are just landing on this post you may want to head here and read about Lit/Artic kits and what they are.

Move Over Rover! By Karen Beaumont
With this book, we can target initial and final /r/, animal names, prepositions ( in, out, under), inferencing, and vocabulary. This book also has some cute and sometimes difficult rhymes and alterations.
You will need the following items:
Dog house toy. I have this one here from Amazon
You need a series of small animal figurines that can fit into the dog house. As always you can dig into the animals you may have hidden in the back of your toy closet. If you want a cheaper option you can print out some animals and laminate them.
You will need the following:
Bird , Cat, snake, raccoon, skunk, squirrel, and mouse.
The main premise of this story is that all the animals join the puppy in his dog house during a rainstorm. The fun stops when an unwelcome animal stinks up the doghouse. Can you guess which animal that is?
This book and activity are so fun! The kids love stuffing all the animals into the dog house. You will get many gleeful repetitions of Move Over Rover!
If you missed the first book in this series head back to our last Lit/Artic post and read about Good Night Gorilla.
